Meet our Equine Veterinary Team.
Jacksonville Equine was established in 1991 by Dr. Alan Weldon with a plan to bring Institutional quality medicine to Northeast Florida and Southern Georgia. Prior to coming to Jacksonville Dr Weldon worked in a large equine practice in Ocala Fl. as well as serving as the resident veterinarian on the top thoroughbred farm in Western Australia. Dr Weldon then received his residency training at Cornell University becoming Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He has a special focus on diagnostic ultrasound and cardiology and well as neurologic/respiratory and gastrointestinal disease. He is married to Beth (also a Veterinarian) and they have 5 kids, 5 dogs, 2 cats, 3 birds.
Dr. Nancarrow is a University of Florida graduate and also practiced in Ocala and in Western Australia. He owned a practice in Clay County FL as well as spending several years practicing in North Carolina. Dr Nancarrow has a special interest in Ophthalmology and equine lameness diagnosis.
Dr. Gina Zambrano

She grew up in Rhode Island and was involved in 4-H and FFA through her middle school and high school years. She received her bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Science from the Univesity of Massachusetts Amherst in 2010. During college she participated in the riding program, student horse boarding co-op, dairy cow group, and was vice-president of the sheep group. Gina attended veterinary school at the University of Florida and graduated with her DVM in 2014. During vet school, Gina did a research project with the Merial Veterinary scholars program. Gina worked as a general practitioner at a large animal practice in Brooksville, FL. She worked on a variety of horses, sheep, goats, camelids and cattle during her 31/2 years there. Gina has special interests in equine sports medicine and ruminant medicine. In her free time, Gina enjoys riding her Thoroughbred mare “Azalea” and competing at local and rated hunter shows.
