Lameness is the #1 cause of poor performance in the horse. Simple conditions such as hoof abscess and bruising can be crippling whereas arthritis can be subtle. Evaluating movement can give clues as to the area that’s causing pains but frequently more detailed examination is needed. We can hold joins in flexion to exacerbate the lamness and then evaluate that area. We can also use regional nerve blocks to anesthetize specific areas of the limb to eliminate the lamness . Identification of the cause is critical to successful treatment and we can offer many tools to help you get your horse back into performance.
